Then Blockbuster came out with their unlimited plan. For $29.95 a month I could check out 2 movies at a time with no late fees. I figured, Hell I'll definitely get my money's worth with this deal! Which I did. It was fine at first, that is until the Supply vs. Demand factor kicked in. It wasn't long before I realized by the time I would get to Blockbuster to flip my 2 movies for another pair, all the good movies were picked through and the shelves were empty. It was then that I was reduced to Soprano marathons, or some other hit series I enjoyed. Not to say that was a terrible thing, but when other people got the same idea it got old real quick. Needless to say I would try to get the next 2 DVDs for the season I was watching, and sure as shit they wouldn't be there. That was enough for me, it was time to try some thing new as far as movie stores.
Now on to Netflix. You've seen the commercials "Over a Billion Movies and Counting" I'm not gonna lie I was skeptical at first. I thought how could this company deliver movies to my mailbox paying for the shipping/handling both ways in about 1 business day, with no late fees? I was sure that there had to be a catch. like the saying goes "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is"
I decided what the Hell, I'll pull the trigger! I signed up for the free 2 week trial, ready to drop them like a bad habit if didn't provide the services that they claimed to. I guess you could say that I was pleasantly surprised. After the free trial period I decided to go with the 3 at a time DVD plan, rotating them constantly. The cost is about $18 a month, which is a little more than half of the $30 a month for 2 DVDs I had with Blockbuster. I receive the movies I order, plus have the option to choose from thousands of movies to watch directly on my PC. I can also get a special converter box, and receive movies instantly on my TV. I have yet to try that out, but for right now I'm more than satisfied with the way it is.
In my opinion Netflix beats Blockbuster hands down.
